Wet Feet

We don't get to decide if we will participate in the flow of the Watercourse. We are in it. Our choices are to go with it or try to push against what we perceive to be its direction. More often than not our perception is projection, an anchor rooted in desire, leading to a bumpy ride for our raft. Our choices DO make a difference. The Watercourse is never not free. Going with the flow, the default is to creativity and joyous discovery.

What arouses those feelings of wonder and mysticism and gratitude that precedes and motivates action? That is religion. For me, it's the seashore, the mountains, trees, birdsong. The wind in the leaves of a fall oak or aspen. Practice everywhere, even in the desert.

If you have become aware that there must be something more in a life than just external rewards and a societal notion of success, then you have taken the first step on a path that the wise among us have walked before. Many paths lead nowhere, yet we are told we must walk them until, standing still, we see the truth beneath our feet.

The Watercourse Way. Our feet. Wet.
