Powerhouses

Today, Joyce Carol Oates is celebrating her 86th birthday. The prolific, novelist, poet, essayist and multiple award recipient was born  in 1938, Lockport, New York.  She is regarded as a true literary powerhouse

And, the publisher of The Washington Post, Katharine Graham, was born  197 years ago today in 1917, New York, New York.  She was especially known for supporting the Post’s investigation into the Watergate scandal.
