The Watercourse as Pilgrimage

The Watercourse as Pilgrimage

A habit-less journey absent

assurance, predictability.

Those fixed forms,

made sacred by the power of blessings

from places visited and passed through.

Pilgrimage transforms, purifies, re-shapes.

Discovery provides opportunities

turning obstacles into more discovery,

renewal, rest.

The truly great pilgrim

doesn't need to go

anywhere.

My own pilgrimage is best summarized by

a shared confession with Mary Oliver:

I've been saved by poetry

and the beauty of the world.
