The Prophet honored...
...in his home town at last.
Some anniversaries are better remembered than celebrated. One anniversary that begs for both: Today is the 139th of poet Khalil Gibran, born in the mountain village in Bsharri, Lebanon (1883). His book The Prophet (1923) made him the now listed third best selling poet after William Shakespeare and Lao-Tzu. Gibran has been dismissed as a popular sentimentalist by American critics and historians of art and of literature. There are signs that this situation is changing.
