Every day is a “moon” day...
In the mailbox this full “Blood Moon” Saturday...
A reminder of one of the “big deal” moments in our nation's history: 218 years ago today (1804) Captain Meriwether Lewis and Lieutenant William Clark set out from Camp Dubois, near present day Hartford, Illinois on their historic expedition across the American West. It was a Monday and the Moon was entering its first quarter. 18 months later, on November 20th,1805 they reached the Pacific Ocean under a New Moon. They arrived back to St. Louis, Missouri on September 23rd 1806, one week from a Full Harvest Moon.
Today is also the 49th anniversary of the launch into space of Skylab, the first spacestation, from which the Moon is always full.
