It's also the birth date of another San Francisco beat poet, Lew Welch, who was born in 1926 Phoenix, Arizona.
The legendary author and editor William Maxwell was born on this day in 1908 Lincoln, Illinois.
Madonna turns 67 today. The major pop culture icon was born in 1958,Bay City Michigan.
James Cameron is 71 today. The Canadian filmmaker was born in 1954, Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada.
