[Trump's] ability to make waves, stir the pot and create a new scandal every day means that the prior day’s issues get pushed aside and forgotten. It's a purposeful tactic that's a must “call-out” for all media. – Joyce Vance in Civil Discourse.

Garrison Keillor wonders if Trump's preoccupation with transgender identity might be a projection of his repressed persona. He says its his last word about the election. After this post, I doubt it.

Winter on the horizon...don't despair

It's the Satyr's day . . . moderate Southerlies and bright sunshine warm TulsyTown a bit this afternoon ...meanwhile, following the almost as bright Beaver Moon, those critters are headed for their Winter lodges. I've put away my summer cargo shorts and brought out the sweats which don't. My yard leaves are ankle deep and while we have some color holding on, the tree's skeletons are increasingly apparent. Ah, Autumn: when lovers bless the dark.

The Watercourse, of course, has its tides. Evidence of its embrace of the simultaneity of positive and negative is as rare as it is everywhere. While we celebrate it, becoming dependent on interdependence has its problems, as that behavior is another form of separation, contradicting the true nature of interconnectedness. In Europe, Germany is facing this issue today. – Nathan Gardels, writing in Noēma, 11/15/24

When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fail. Think of it — always. – Ghandi

“Don’t Despair of This Falling World” – Jane Hirshfield,

Have you figured out what beauty is for? How it pertains to everything? And, have you changed your life? – Mary Oliver, “Swan,” from Swan, 2010, Beacon Press.

Tide Turn . . .

It's Freya's (Frigg's) day . . . and the Beaver Moon rises in TulseyTown this evening about 5pm in an anticipated clear sky. It's the last of the four consecutive supermoons we've had this year. Why “Beaver” Moon? Many indigenous peoples recognized beavers heading to their water safe dens to wait out the winter to come.

“If you live in a house which is impermeable to the cold winds and storms and difficulties of this world, you will also wall yourself off from the moonlight.” – Jane Hirshfield, The Ink Dark Moon, Vintage, 1990.

No, women aren't likely to "boycott" men — but here's why the idea matters– Amanda Marcotte

If you are feeling out of sync (as am I) with society’s emphasis on partying our way through the holiday season, you are not alone. While society is ringing jingle bells and urging us to buy more and more stuff, we may be sensing an urge to turn inward, against the tide. – Mirabai Starr

Speak of tide turns...

We are not self-made, nor independent from one another.

Tide Turn on a Winter Day

Wine dark sea / red dawn sky. / Forever ago a glass calm.

Magenta sails / on a flat earth / incomprehensible as death /

birth bewildering / as the woman bringing it / from wherever the wind is born.

Inconceivable as a round earth / conceived in the imagination /

of a mother's child / on an icy hillside shore /

playing with stones.

– JAB
