Among the items in the mailbox this morning: a sad reminder that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on this date sixty years ago in 1963 Dallas, Texas.

And, today is the 124th anniversary of Hoagy Carmichael's birth. The songwriter of Stardust was born on this date in1899 Bloomington, Indiana. My favorite version of Stardust is this one with Willie Nelson and Bradford Marsalis on The Tonight Show (sometime in the '90s … couldn't find the exact date).
