It's Tews day . . . Tew was (who knows, maybe still is?) one of the significant war gods of Norse myth and upholder of law and justice. Back in the day, he would have been called upon to influence the new conflagration between Israel and Hamas. Not to mention Ukraine's defense against invading Russia.

Today is the 106th anniversary of Thelonious Monk's birth. The pianist and composer was among the first creators of modern jazz. He was born on this date in 1917 RockyMount, N.C.
And the evening of 1935 saw George Gershwin's opera Porgy and Bess open on Broadway.
Yesterday, while we marked International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples it was also Columbus Day for a lot of not really good reasons.
