The Call of the Wild
In the mailbox this Odin’s Day…
Today is the 146th anniversary of Jack London's birthday in 1876.
Paintings, poems, novels, cinema, music – artworks are more like portals than ordinary objects: they can transport us into other worlds. A metaphor, of course; we stand, as it were, on a threshold of seeing, hearing, feeling, experiencing another world. We join the artist's invitation. We become guests in a space created by the two of us in an unfolding moment-by-moment. This is hallowed ground.
“And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.” – Kahlil Gibran
