The leaves are dreaming of Autumn . . .
Thursday, September 10, 2026. It's Thor's day . . . At this 10 a.m. hour, thunderstorms and a much cooler day are in store for GreenCountry today. 70's with moderate Northerlies and scattered showers visit TulseyTown's afternoon. 90's return tomorrow.
Purpose may be less about finding one grand calling and more about how we meet each day.
Today is the birthdate of poet Mary Oliver, my fave, born in 1935 Maple Heights, Ohio. I continue to read her, daily.
Message to Canada: Continue the fight. – Robert Reich, Substack,9.10.26.
Following the money, from Germany to the U.S. – Heather Cox Richardson, in Letters From An American, 9.9.26
True transformation does not invalidate what came before – it enlarges it. The thread of our purpose may remain constant even as its expression changes completely. . .Then the question becomes: What is life asking of me now? . . . You may feel resistance, but you can trust that spirit is always guiding you toward becoming more of who you can be. – Lynne Twist
Mencken, Captain Dave, and the U.S. Navy. – Garrison Keillor, The Writer's Almanac, 9.9.26
Song for Autumn
Don’t you imagine the leaves dream now
how comfortable it will be to touch the earth
instead of the nothingness of the air
and the endless freshets of wind?
…
The wind wags its many tails.
And in the evening
the piled firewood shifts a little,
longing to be on its way.
– Mary Oliver, “Song for Autumn,” first published in Poetry Magazine, May 2005; and reprinted in her Devotions: The Selected Poems of Mary Oliver, Penguin Random House. 2017. Read the complete poem here.
