The joyous ache

In the Tuesday mailbox...a reminder:

The Watercourse, among its infinite gifts, is that of showing us our contradictions.

For millennia there has been a disconnect between what we claim to be what we actually do. The rendered desecration of the environment, violent visitations on our neighbors and kin, rampant greed – each and all – reveals an alienation of heart and mind. Yet are we brought into what feels like a joyous ache we cannot understand, an inconsolable longing for what we know not what, but attended to promises a bridge, a reunification of our divided selves.

The experience of loneliness is another gift from The Watercourse. Settling into that space brings a deeper awareness: If I am alone, truly, then to whom may I complain? And, about what? Loneliness and belonging are simultaneous celebrations. – with thanks to Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche

...“that unnameable something, desire for which (arises) at the smell of bonfire, the sound of wild ducks flying overhead, ... the opening lines of ‘Kubla Khan,’ the morning cobwebs in late summer, or the noise of falling waves.” – C.S. Lewis

Be a lamp or a lifeboat or a ladder. Walk out of your house like a shepherd. Help someone’s soul heal. – Rumi
