Impermanence teaches that things ripen, flower in their time, and fade away in a continuous cycle of beauty, being, becoming, and nonbeing. It teaches gratitude and appreciation for the unrepeating wonder of each day, each moment. – Valerie Brown, “Beauty, being, and becoming,” in Tricycle.

To walk an inter-spiritual path is about seeking and finding the Love that unifies all paths and affirms our essential interconnectedness. – Mirabai Starr, The Definition of Interspirituality. On Substack.

I Happened To Be Standing

I don't know where prayers go

or what they do.

Do cat's pray while they sleep?

...

While I was thinking this

I happened to be standing

just outside my door

with my notebook open.

When a wren in the shrub

began to sing.

…

I wouldn't persuade you from

whatever you believe

or whatever you don't.

That's your business.

But I thought, of the wren's singing,

what could this be

if it isn't a prayer?

So I just listened

my pen in the air.
