Winston Churchill was born at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, England on this day in 1874.

And on this day in 1835, Samuel Clemens was born in Florida, Missouri. He chose to write with the pen name Mark Twain in 1863 while family and close friends continued to called him “Sam.”
