Notes from this Thursday mailbox…

Today is the 89th anniversary of the birth of David McCullough – historian, lecturer and narrator – born this day in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (1933).

It is also the 162nd birth anniversary of Gustav Mahler (1860), in Kalischt, Bohemia, (what is now the Czech Republic).

No matter where you are, no matter how lost...you are...in a place of perfectly balanced forces. Even if you feel abandoned by all that might comfort you, you are held in the embrace of what you cannot see. – Kathleen Dean Moore

“Nothing good was ever written in a large room.” – David McCullough
