Interbeing: the normalcy of change
In the 2.12.22 post, the concluding remark derived from Bohm noted: “Interconnected communication is beyond theory.” Physics, philosophy and spirituality are part of that interconnectedness, uniting our understanding of thousands of years with today, with this moment of my writing, of your reading. Thich Naht Hahn called this “Interbeing.” Tara Brach recently offered a worthwhile perspective on a video post: “Realizing Interbeing.”
Contemporary media continues to follow its old, worn-out formula of appealing to our negativity bias and reinforces the “conflict” message of competition and longing for “normal.” There is no “normal.” There has never been a “normal” anything. If there can be a “normal” it is that normalcy is a myth. Everything is changing and changing constantly. Evolution is a fact, not just a theory that helps us comprehend change.
Brach reminds us that modern economies rely on a giant ad industry geared to make sure we don't relax into satisfaction with what we have now. Mindfulness practice actually deconditions the habit of scanning for what's missing or wrong by focusing on the only reality there is: This moment which has just changed as you read this.
