It's the 102nd anniversary of the birth of Ray Bradbury, born in 1920 in Waukegan, Illinois

Dorothy Parker would be 129 years old if her wit had made it to today, which has in many ways. She was born in Long Branch, New Jersey in 1893. Thankfully we have much of what she wrote with that razor-sharpened mind-pen. Should you require a reminder, she was a poet, satirist and founding member of the Algonquin Round Table.

Novelist Annie Proulx is 97 years old today, born (1935) in Norwich, Connecticut. She was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for her second novel, The Shipping News, which was published in 1993.
