Metaphor

In the mailbox this morning: All language is metaphor. Words, at best, are like traffic signs pointing toward where the designer thinks the river may be.

Timeless, the Watercourse Way has no thereness nor thatness. Only Isness and Suchness. Contradiction is a word. The Way has no contradictions. The Way contains all contradictions.

That we are already enlightened beings here and now is a matter that, with some effort, can be grasped by the intellect. Realization of this fact requires no effort whatsoever beyond letting go of the intellectual grasping, generated by our insistence that words are things.

The word is not the thing. The map is not the territory. But, then, you know that.
